The Nye Beach Bead Festival is this weekend in Newport, July 25th & 26th. It’s a celebration of visual arts, with contemporary beads, vintage beads, semi-precious beads, dichronic glass, fused glass, handmade silver items and jewelry. The event is free.

Bikefest in Seaside

The 5th annual Seaside Bikefest is this weekend, July 17th and 18th. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts will converge in downtown Seaside. BikeFest is open to all types of motorcycles. The show includes a ride-in bike show with custom bikes, bike builders, tattoo artists, vendors and entertainment.

The 25th Season of SHANGHAIED IN ASTORIA runs July 9th thru September 12th 2009 in Astoria. This locally-written play is part vaudeville, part soap opera, and part 1950’s style Hollywood musical, all combined into a fun and entertaining look at traditional local cultural folklore. For more than 60 years the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program has been held in Seaside at the Seaside Civic & Convention Center. The Pageant will take place this year from July 8-11. Miss Oregon 2009 will be crowned by the reigning Miss Oregon, Danijela Krstic on July 11.


The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations awarded more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. The winner of the Miss Oregon Competition goes on to compete at the national level - Miss America Pageant.
