The annual Nye Beach Murder Mystery Weekend is March 13 and 14th. Locals stage a murder and visitors can investigate “who dunnit.” Each year, around 100 people gather, collecting clues from various businesses and asking questions of actors/suspects dressed in period garb. This year’s mystery is “Barnie in the Rubble,” set in 1985. It centers around the murder of a Portland lawyer named Barnie, who was found in rubble at the bottom of a cliff.
Information packets are available for $5 between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, March 13, Nye Cottage, 208 NW Coast Street, Nye Beach, Newport. You’ll have until 5 p.m. to collect clues and interrogate suspects. Solutions (the who, when, why and how) are due back at Nye Cottage by 6 p.m. The big reveal, when the real culprit is named, is set for Sunday, March 14. Prizes and gift certificates are given to the winning detectives.
