Mardi Gras is coming soon in February. To get you in the mood, the Culinary Center in Lincoln City is having a Mardi Gras Jambalaya Cook-off on January 30th. Chefs from throughout Oregon will compete to take home the people's choice title: Best Jambalaya, or the live cooking competition for best Cajun/Creole dish. The live competition will be judged by three judges on taste, authenticity, creativity, technique, appearance, consistency and overall presentation.

This annual event begins at 11am and wraps up at 2pm. Cost at the door is FREE! (a token amount is charged for tastes)

Cannon Beach Folk Music series

If you like old-time jug band music, head to Cannon Beach for the Acoustic Folk Music series. Back by popular demand, the Sassparilla Jug Band will be playing on Saturday, January 30^th. Consisting of Portland, Oregon artists… Sassparilla has a vintage sound evoking the blues of the 20’s and 30’s. The band includes fiddle, washboards, banjo, percussabass, national steel and harmonica. Tickets are $7/adults and $2/kids, at the door. 7:30-9:30 PM at the Cannon Beach History Center and Museum.

Since 1968, Tower of Power has delivered their unique brand of music to their fans, appearing before sold out crowds as they tour the world each year. Tower’s sound can be hard to categorize, but the band's leader and founding member, Emilio Castillo, has labeled their sound as "Urban Soul Music."

Enjoy an impressive display of quartet performances by national and international champions and the best of the Pacific Northwest. Parking is free at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center.
