The Magic of Spring

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Spring is arriving at the Coast. Today, it rained, snowed, hailed and was brilliantly sunny….all on a rotating schedule.

It’s time to plan for Spring Break. Lincoln City is preparing to welcome you with a week’s worth of magic, illusion and wonderment. Lincoln City’s Festival of Illusions will amaze, entertain and teach you and your family. March 27-31, you can watch amazing feats of prestigitation, learn to do them yourself at Magic Camp and enjoy performances by a variety of renowned illusionists.

The magicians themselves will be teaching at Magic Camp. From March 27-31, you can learn from the best for only $15. Ages 8 through adults are welcome and all the props are included. Call the Lincoln City Cultural Center at 541-994-9994 to register.

Joe Black, Matt Baker & Steve Hamilton, Hart Keene and Heather Pearl will be your teachers, magicians, illusionists and sources of wonderment. Visit http://www.oregoncoast.org/festival-of-illusions to check out their credentials, their acts and even their Guinness Book of World Record status. Don’t miss your chance to get hypnotized, learn how to pull a rabbit out a hat or disappear, which is a handy trick to know. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for ages 6-18 and free for ages 5 and under.

The magic doesn’t end with the Festival of Illusions. There are the waves of the ocean, glass floats scattered along the beach ready for you to find, great food, historic museums and movie houses, freshly made fudge and salt water taffy, the best fish tacos ever and micro brewed beer. A world class skateboard park, a fantastic community center with rock climbing walls and waterslides, horse back riding on the beach, hiking trails and parks, the beauty and fun of Devils Lake and much, much more.

If you haven’t made plans for Spring Break, do it now! Come to the Festival of Illusions in Lincoln City and experience the magic of spring.
